fine celebration of the train's impact on the area's growth and culture. Lydia B. Zaverukha and
Nina Bogdan's RUSSIAN SAN FRANCISCO (0738571679, $21.99) provides a fine survey of
Russian history in the City and uses vintage portraits from private collections and Russian
cultural museums alike. The importance of San Francisco's Russian population is well detailed in
this fine survey. Both are packed with rare archival photos and 'musts' for any serious California
library strong in regional history.
